I Am Not Your Typical Accountant…

I’ve always gotten a surprising look from people when they learn that I am an accountant.  “You don’t seem like an accountant” they say.

And that’s true.

I am not your typical accountant.

After acquiring my accounting designation and then spending 10+ years leading the financial operations for a global hearing aid company, I changed hats and moved over to lead the sales organization for the Canadian market. Soon after that, I took the helm as the General Manager for the Canadian division overseeing all operations of the company for over 5 years.

In these roles, I have obtained extensive experience and accomplished a great deal.

What makes me different?

(1)

I’m NOT just about the numbers. I value a holistic approach to business. While I recognize finance is a critical part of an organization, I fully appreciate the importance of all of the other functions in a company and how important it is they all work well together.

(2)

I believe strongly in some of the “softer” sides of business - a strong company culture, development opportunities for employees, balance of work/life/health. These are trademarks of companies that are truly financially healthy.

(3)

My personality is one of being outgoing, approachable, team-oriented and keen to impart my knowledge to others. My focus is on how I can help people grow professionally and personally.

You could say my perspective and approach to things these days is a lot like my career – a very strong foundation of finance and accounting, coupled with broad exposure to the multi-disciplines that make a company run well.

It’s why I work with small and medium-sized businesses. I know the isolation and the pressures that the leader at the top faces. I also know how valuable it is to have a partner and ally to share some of the load, provide some new perspectives, and to challenge or validate your thinking.

Finance is an area many business owners tend to avoid for various reasons. But it is an area that holds so much potential with the right leader to unlock it.

My goal is to eliminate the fear around finance, utilize the company’s financial information to its utmost, and help CEO’s take their company’s performance to the next level.
