What Are Your True Skills?
Do you know what your true skills are?
I am not talking the ability to provide customer service or be a mechanic or do accounting. I mean the skills you are really good at.
Often times we see our skills as being in the industry we work, or the job title we have. But it is important that people start to see past how they currently deploy their skills, and rather see the potential of where their abilities can be employed.
Skills like the ability to build networks – the skill to connect two people in a productive way. The ability to identify profit opportunities – to know where to buy Product A for $X and sell it for $Y. The ability to make people feel at ease making a tough decision – to be able to empathize with them and offer support and guidance as they take their journey.
These are true skills that can be used in so many different ways. People shouldn’t let themselves be constrained into the “construction industry” or as a “retail employee” simply because that’s where they find themselves at the moment.
Look hard at what you do well to identify what your true skills are. Then seek out places where they are most highly valued, appreciated and sought after. That is where you will find you have the most impact, where you will find the most job satisfaction, and likely where you will achieve the highest earning potential.
